Schedule B: Tax relief measures
Schedule B is used to calculate the following refundable and non-refundable credit amounts that can be claimed on your Québec return:
- Age amount
- Amount for a person living alone
- Amount for retirement income
- Amount for medical expenses
- Refundable tax credit for medical expenses and
- Independent living tax credit for seniors
Note: The eligibility requirements for each of these credits will vary. For more information or to find out if you’re eligible to claim them, click the link(s) above that applies to you.

H&R Block’s tax software will automatically complete Schedule B for you based on the information you entered elsewhere in your return.
You will, however, need to enter additional information if you’re claiming:
- The amount for a person living alone (click here for directions)
- Medical expenses (click here for directions)
- The independent living tax credit for seniors (click here for directions)
Note: If you’re preparing your return with a spouse or a common-law partner, the software will automatically apply some of these credits to the return with the higher net income. However, you and your spouse will be able to split these credits in the Final Review section on the Wrap-Up tab.
