With Expert Help - Request a call, you can connect with one of our Tax Experts to ask any tax questions you might have. From expenses, to RRSPs, to credits, and more, our Tax Experts are ready to help you while you prepare your return.

  • Our hours of operation appear only if Expert Help support is closed. If you do not see the hours, then Expert Help support is currently available.
  • Support in English and French are unavailable on statutory holidays.

  1. At the bottom right of the page, click the Messenger Bot button.

  2. Select Access Expert Help Add-on from the list of options provided by the chatbot.

  3. Select Yes.

  4. Choose either:

    • Non-Quebec Returns & English Only Support – For all of Canada, excluding Quebec.
    • Quebec Returns & French Support – For Québec only.

You can add Expert Help to your return in two ways:

  1. From within a return in H&R Block's tax software, purchase Expert Help by clicking LEARN MORE under NEED TAX ADVICE? in the left navigation menu of your online return. 


    1. Note: Clicking LEARN MORE after purchasing Expert Help, the button navigates you to the H&R Block help & support page where you can find multiple support options to service your needs.

  2. Click Add Expert Help.

    Note: You'll see this link once you've selected your software package (i.e. FREE, DELUXE, PREMIER, or SELF-EMPLOYED).

  1. You can add the Expert Help service by clicking the Support button on the header found on the top right of the screen.

  2. On the H&R Block help & support page, click Add Expert Help under the Expert Help section.

  3. Click Add Expert Help.

  2. On the H&R Block help & support page, click Request a Call under the Expert Help section.

  3. Select Access Expert Help Add-On in the chat bot and follow prompts to submit a callback request.

  4. Provide your name, email, and other details. Then, click Send.

  5. A Tax Expert will contact you based on the information you provided when you submitted your request.

  6. During your call, the Tax Expert will answer the question(s) you submitted.

  7. If you have additional questions after your call, you can use the Request a call service as many times as you want.

How do I connect with a Tax Expert? Closed

After you buy the service, you can connect with us right from the software. Provide us your name, email, and other details in the chat bot/widget by clicking the Messenger Bot button on the bottom right of the page. One of our Tax Experts will give you a call as soon as they’re available.

Can I ask any tax question?Closed

Yes! We’re here to answer any kind of tax question, from claiming your work from home expenses, to reporting your COVID-19 benefit amounts, to claiming your RRSP deduction.

Will the Tax Expert review my full return?Closed

The Expert Help - Request a call service is only able to answer tax questions you have while you work on your return. If you’re looking for a complete review, we recommend you book an appointment using the Expert Help- Book a review service. During your review, a Tax Expert will not only review your return from start to finish but also help you optimize your credits and deductions, to help you maximize your refund or minimize the amount you might owe.

What happens if I can’t take the Tax Expert’s call?Closed

We understand, life is busy! If you’re not available when the Tax Expert calls you back, we’ll try to connect with you again two more times. If we’re not able to connect with you at all, you can submit a new callback request through the Messenger Bot widget by clicking Messenger Bot button on the bottom right of the page.

I have another tax question; will the same Tax Expert call me back?Closed

Your callback request will be handled by the first available Tax Expert. While we can’t guarantee that the same Tax Expert will call you back, you can rest assured that every single one of our Tax Experts is backed by over 50 years of tax preparation experience and will be able to answer your tax questions accurately.

Sometimes, it’s helpful to know that your return has been double-checked by a Tax Expert. By booking a review, one of our Tax Experts will review your entire return with you over the phone, before you file. With Expert Help, you can be confident that you’ve optimized all your credits and deductions.
