Warning: Select the country to which you paid foreign tax

You’ll see the following warning message in H&R Block’s 2024 tax software if, on the T5 page, you entered an amount into box 16 (Foreign tax paid), but you didn’t select the country you paid foreign tax to:

Since you entered an amount for box 16 on the T5 page, you need to choose the country you paid foreign tax to. [warning]

 

How do I fix this?

To clear this warning, return to the T5 page in the tax software and from the drop-down list next to the question For the foreign tax you entered in box 16, what country did you pay the tax to?, select the country you paid foreign tax to.

Note: You can enter your T5 slip on the Smart Searchpage under the Government slips tab on the left navigation menu.
