Error code 597

You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2024 tax software if on the Statement of employment expenses (T777 & T777S) page the number days you worked from home were less than 28 days:

The period you worked from home in 2024 ({1} to {2}) is less than 28 days. Review the dates you entered to make sure they’re correct. If these dates are correct, you can’t claim your home office expenses. You’ll need to remove the information you entered in the Your home office expenses section. [error code: 597]

 

How do I fix this?

To fix this error, return to the T777/T777S page and check the dates you entered in the following fields under the Your home office expenses section:

• Start of the period you worked from home in 2024

• End of the period you worked from home in 2024

If you worked from home for less than 28 days, you can’t claim your home office expenses and you’ll need to remove your information from the Your home office expenses section.
