Error code 298

You will see the following error in H&R Block’s 2025 tax software if, when entering your mailing address on the Your Contact information page, you entered invalid characters in the Rural route number field:

The rural route you entered doesn't seem to be valid. Rural routes can only contain numbers. [error code: 298]

 

How do I fix this?

To correct the error, enter your rural route in the Rural route number field of the Your Contact information page using only numbers.

Correct format: 23

Incorrect format: 23RR

Note: The Your Contact information page can be found by clicking Contact Information under Get Started on the left navigation menu.
